Career and Job Placement Services
College personnel work closely with area businesses and industry for the purpose of job placement. The college staff can assist students in obtaining permanent employment upon graduation; however, the college does not guarantee employment. Students in their last semester may elect to register their credentials (resumes, recommendations, etc.) with Career Services to enhance placement efforts.
PTC students have been very successful at obtaining quality employment after graduation. According to student responses on the Spring 2009 commencement survey, the top employments includes:
Hospitals and Medical Offices
Hospitals and medical offices offer a broad range of career opportunities at multiple work locations. PTC students have gone on to work as medical transcriptionists, Licensed Practical Nurses, Licensed Respiratory Therapists, dental assistants, and much more. Students with degrees in Applied Electronics have gone on to find employment in hospitals maintaining medication equipment, manufacturing needed apparatuses, or working in their communication departments. With a degree in the medical fields, PTC students have been able to compete for the best jobs in one of the fastest growing employment markets.
State of Arkansas Employment Opportunities:
The State of Arkansas has been a top choice for PTC students. Students from the hospitality and culinary programs can find employment with Parks and Tourism, while students from the paralegal program may be busy in the governmental offices. Computer Information Systems students are able to become part of the networking team that supports governmental offices. PTC students are prepared for a number of fields within state government.
Culinary and Hospitality Related
When students graduate from the Culinary and Hospitality programs at PTC, the possibilities are endless. Whether they are seeking employment as a private chef or operations manager for a catering company, the training students have been afforded from the areas best chefs has them ready for every opportunity. Students with Hospitality degrees have successfully sought employment at resorts and in the areas of development and advancement for large companies.
Federal Government (including military)
PTC students have successfully found employment with the federal government. Utilizing their degree from PTC, a number of students have enlisted as officers in the armed forces while others have found management opportunities through the skills they acquired in their business program.
The Entrepreneur option of the business program has afforded a number of students with the opportunity to be their own boss. Further, students with degrees in welding, manufacturing, or drafting have been able to serve as independent contractors for large corporations or private business owners within their respective fields. Whether it is setting up an independently owned and operated body shop or serving as a private pilot, students at PTC have shaped their own future.
