Pulaski Tech welcomes Best New Poets
3/4/2011

Pulaski Technical College will host a poetry reading March 17 with two Arkansas poets recently named to Best New Poets 2010.

Angie Macri, an English instructor at Pulaski Technical College, and Mary Angelino, a graduate student in the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, will read from their poetry. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 17 in the RJ Wills Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the Campus Center on the main campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Macri and Angelino were included in Best New Poets 2010, an annual anthology of 50 poems by emerging writers. The anthology is published by the University of Virginia Press. Each year a guest editor selects 50 poems from nominations made by literary magazines and writing programs. This year Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Claudia Emerson chose Angelino and Macri for inclusion in the anthology.

Macri and Angelino also are scheduled to give a reading on April 9 during the Arkansas Literary Festival. For more information contact Angie Macri at (501) 812-2381 or e-mail her at amacri@pulaskitech.edu.
