Pulaski Tech offers free workshop, free legal handbook

Pulaski Technical College's Amicus Curiae Paralegal Club and the Young Lawyers Section of the Arkansas Bar Association are sponsoring a free workshop on Oct. 28 to help young people learn to navigate some of life's legal obstacles.

The sessions are based on information in the book 18 & Life to Go: A Legal Handbook for Young Arkansans, which was written and edited by Arkansas lawyers. Everyone who attends will receive a free copy of the book on CD.

The workshop will be offered at 12 p.m. on Oct. 28 in the RJ Wills Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the Campus Center.

Attorneys from the Young Lawyers Section of the Arkansas Bar Association will address some of the questions, conflicts, issues and circumstances that arise, including the following:

Can a landlord prohibit me from having a roommate?
If I accidentally hit my neighbor's dog with my car, am I responsible for paying the veterinarian's bill?
What could happen if I buy stolen property by mistake?
What if I buy a new car and it turns out to be a lemon?
Do I have to submit to a breathalyzer or blood test?
What should I do if someone steals my checkbook and forges my name on a check?
What can I do if my credit report contains erroneous or misleading information?
What can I do if I am the victim of identity theft?
What can I do if strangers "crash" my party?
