Big Rock Reading Series begins Feb. 6

Pulaski Technical College kicks off its spring Big Rock Reading series on Feb. 6 with a reading, question-and-answer, and book signing by poet Jericho Brown.

The event begins at 6 p.m. in the RJ Wills Lecture Hall in the Campus Center, located on the college's main campus in North Little Rock at 3000 West Scenic Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

Brown is an assistant professor at Emory University. He received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and the National Endowment for the Arts. His first book, PLEASE, won the American Book Award, and his second book, THE NEW TESTAMENT, is forthcoming from Copper Canyon Press. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in journals and anthologies including, Callaloo, The Nation, The New Yorker, Oxford American, The New Republic, 100 Best African American Poems, Ascent of Angles, and The Best American Poetry.

Brown's reading is the first of three events in Big Rock Reading Series. Other events include a panel discussion on "Writing for a Living in Central Arkansas," at 6 p.m. March 18 and an April 25 event with poet Charlotte Pence and short story writer Adam Prince at 11 a.m. All events are free and open to the public and take place in the RJ Wills Lecture Hall in the Campus Center.
