Pulaski Technical College honors Campus Center donors
|Pulaski Technical College showed off its Campus Center Tuesday night to many of the donors who helped make the new building a reality.
Nearly 100 people attended the reception, appropriately held in the Campus Center lobby and Grand Hall.
All of the donors contributed to Pulaski Technical College Foundation's Campus Center and Library Expansion Building Campaign to raise $4 million for the two campus projects.
Dr. Dan Bakke thanked attendees for their generosity in helping the college secure funding for the three-story, 92,000-square-foot building, which was completed over the summer.
"This Campus Center will go a long way in helping us provide the much-needed space for students and student services," Dr. Bakke said. "This building is for them."
Cindy Harkey, vice president of student services, also thanked donors on behalf of students.
"This center has truly elevated the quality of campus life for our students, and they are so appreciative," she said.
Before and after the program, Student Ambassadors led guests on tours throughout the center, pointing out the many features, including the Cyber Lounge and the Campus Bookstore; the Food Court and private dining hall; the Lecture Hall, which has seating for more than 200; the open computer labs; and the Learning Assistance Center, where students have access to free tutoring.
Tuesday night's program also featured two speakers who have been extremely supportive of the foundation's fundraising efforts: Lyndell Lay, one of the founding members of Pulaski Technical College's Board of Trustees and who is now a member of the foundation board, and Mr. R.J. Wills, who has served as chairman of the Pulaski Technical College Foundation board since 2004.
"These two gentlemen have done much for Pulaski Technical College," said Joyce Taylor, the foundation's executive director. "We would not be where we are today without their leadership, their guidance, and their unwavering dedication to Pulaski Technical College."
