Artist Kevin Cole to visit PTC

Pulaski Technical College is proud to host nationally known artist and Arkansas native Kevin Cole for two public events today. Kevin Cole was born in Pine Bluff and currently lives in Atlanta, Ga. Cole has received 30 fellowships and grants, over 42 awards in art and 28 teaching awards. His work is displayed in over 700 public, private and corporate art collections.

Please make plans to attend the Kevin Cole Business of Art lecture Tuesday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in the R.J. Wills Lecture Hall. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend this free event. 

Tuesday evening, April 3, The Pulaski Technical College Foundation will present The Business of Art, featuring Kevin Cole, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., in the Pulaski Technical College Grand Hall. Tickets are $40. More information is available here.

The event will feature a presentation by Kevin Cole, local artists displaying their skills, live entertainment by the Guido Ritchie Jazz Duo, live and silent auctions, and delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts prepared by the Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary Arts School. Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for students in the business and fine arts programs at the college.

Kevin Cole received a BS degree in art education from the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff in 1982. He earned an MA in art education and painting in 1983 from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and in 1984, an MFA in drawing from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb. From 1987 to 1997, Cole was an adjunct professor at Georgia State University, Atlanta. Currently he is the chairman of the Visual Arts Magnet Department at the North Springs Arts & Sciences Magnet Program in Atlanta.

Cole has won many awards and fellowships, including the Artist Grant Georgia Council for the Arts in 1992 and a fellowship from Brandywine Print Workshop in Philadelphia in 1998. Cole's works are included in collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
