Pulaski Tech writing camp participants to give readings
7/17/2007

Pulaski Technical College's Summer Writing Institute for Teens (SWIFT) concludes Friday, July 20, with a public reading of students' creative works.

The presentations begin at 11 a.m. in the R.J. Wills Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the Campus Center.

Thirty students in grades 6-12 are attending the college's two-week writing institute, which was funded with a $2,500 grant from the C. Louis and Mary C. Cabe Foundation.

"Our goal was to provide opportunities for youth in our community to explore the creative writing process while also improving their reading and writing skills," said SWIFT coordinator Sandy Longhorn.

Students will read poems and excerpts from fictional writings as well.

The presentations are free and open to the public.
