Constitution Day Celebration set for Monday

Pulaski Technical College will join organizations from across the country in observing Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 17.

The observance commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and honors and celebrates the privileges and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship.

Here's what you can do Monday:

  • Register to vote: Voter registration booths will be staffed 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. at the Campus Center on the main campus and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Kanis.

  • Talk with Pulaski County Circuit/County Clerk Pat O'Brien who will be on campus from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

  • Enjoy a free hot dog, chips and a Coke, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., Campus Center Promenade. 

  • Get a free pocket-size copy of the U.S. Constitution from Uncle Sam. (He'll be on the Campus Center promenade from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

  • Learn more about the "Historical Implications of the Expansion of Voting Rights" at a noontime lecture in the R.J. Wills Lecture Hall, second floor of the Campus Center. Panelists include Meredith Oakley, associate editor at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and Pulaski Technical College instructors Edmond Davis, Niki Wilson and Andre Robinson.
