Groundbreaking ceremony a success
Pulaski Technical College held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Business Technology Center Friday morning, April 3. Approximately 125 people enjoyed the ceremony with full cooperation from the clear, sunny weather.
Keynote speakers included Sam Walls III, president of the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation, and Jon Harrison, general manager of North American Motor Grader Operations for Caterpillar Inc. Other speakers included North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays; Dr. Dan F. Bakke, college president; John Suskie, chair of the Pulaski Technical College Board of Trustees; Jim Harvey, chair of the Pulaski Technical College Foundation Board of Directors; and Augusta Farver, dean of business at Pulaski Technical College.
The Business Technology Center will house the college's growing number of students who are pursuing training in business-related fields, including accounting, management and supervision, office technology, entrepreneurship, paralegal technology, law enforcement studies and medical office technology.
About 950 students are currently enrollment in business programs.
The two-story, 20,405-square-foot center will house 10 multipurpose classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, faculty and staff offices, a student commons area and laboratories with the latest in instructional technology.
Construction is expected to take about 14 months with completion scheduled for mid-2010. Wittenberg, Delony & Davidson, Inc. is the project architect, and Matson Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project.
