Currently the demand for beginning welders in the central Arkansas region, across the state and throughout the country is high. Starting pay in this area is $8-12 per hour. By the second year of employment, one can expect to earn $10-15 per hour. Within five years, most welders top out at about $28.50 per hour.

Job openings locally are plentiful in the building trades, maintenance, power plan construction, steel fabrication services, manufacturing, the horse trailer industry and through the boilermaker and ironworker unions.
