A Winning Resume
Sooner or later, the average job seeker will need a resume. The resume is considered a living document because it grows and changes as you acquire new skills and experiences. Possessing a winning resume is essential to your job search. The resume sells the job seeker on paper to the employer and prompts an invitation to interview. Some popular resume formats include: Chronological, Functional and Combination. One should consider the job objective, work experience and educational background when choosing the appropriate format. Education, work history and skills are standard components, while the job objective and summary of qualifications are optional components. References are never listed on the resume; however a “References Available upon Request” statement at the end of your resume is permissible.
Letters of application, cover letters, thank you letters and notes are critical tools in your job search. Because these documents reflect on your ability to write, spell and punctuate, you want to pay careful attention that these correspondences are error free and appropriately formatted.
