Spring enrollment climbs 3 percent2/3/2011
Pulaski Technical College has 11,466 students this semester, a 3 percent over this time last year and a record number for the college.
Historically at Pulaski Tech, spring enrollment has exceeded that of the preceding fall semester, and this year the same held true. The college recorded a 260-student increase over the fall 2010 enrollment of 11,206 students.
"The economy continues to be a motivator for many of our new students," said Dr. Dan F. Bakke, college president. "They understand that education is crucial to their lives and are working toward degrees and credentials that will give them a competitive edge in the job market."
Of this spring's enrollment:
- 66 percent are female and 34 percent are male.
- The student body racial make-up is 53 percent black, 42 percent white, 3 percent Hispanic, and 2 percent other.
- 49 percent of students are enrolled full-time, and 51 percent of students attend part-time.
