Bob Dorough, former musical director for the popular Schoolhouse Rock! cartoon series, will perform at Pulaski Technical College on Monday, April 18, from 12-1 p.m. in the college's Campus Center Grand Hall.
The performance is free and open to the public.
Dorough, who plays piano and sings, will perform songs from Schoolhouse Rock!, the Saturday morning cartoon series which featured music and short films on grammar, science, economics, history, math and civics. The series aired on ABC from 1973 to 1985 and again from 1993-1999.
The series included favorites such the pilot episode "Three is a Magic Number," which Dorough wrote, along with "Verb: That's What Happening," "Electricity Electricity," and "The Shot Heard 'Round the World" and many others. Dorough will also perform some original music as well.
Dorough, who lives in Pennsylvania, is back in his native Arkansas for three local performances.
He will be performing Sunday, April 17, at Wildwood Park and from 8-11 p.m. Monday, April 18, at the Afterthought in Little Rock, under the auspices of the Arkansas Jazz and Heritage Society.
