Pulaski Technical College has 11,938 students enrolled in classes this fall, just eight fewer students than last fall's record enrollment.
Fall enrollment was announced Friday. Classes began Aug. 23, and enrollment data from the 11th day of class is used for reporting to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.
"At a time when enrollments have declined at many colleges, our enrollment has remained steady, and we think that's because we have continued to keep college accessible, affordable and relevant to people in central Arkansas," said Dr. Margaret Ellibee, college president.
Part-time enrollment is up 3 percent from fall 2011, with 52 percent of students now attending part-time and 48 percent attending full-time.
Also, PTC's male student enrollment has increased 2 percent and accounts for 35 percent of the student body; 65 percent are women.
Pulaski Tech's enrollment includes students attending the college's main campus in North Little Rock, Little Rock-West at 8901 Kanis Road, Little Rock-South on Interstate 30, Saline County Career Center, Aerospace Technology Center near the North Little Rock Airport, and some credit classes at the Business and Industry Center in Little Rock.
