Pulaski Technical College has opened a one-stop Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) program that will run through Dec. 9 in the student center of the Administration building on the main campus in North Little Rock.
New students planning to attend Pulaski Tech during the spring 2006 semester are encouraged to visit the one-stop SOAR center for orientation, advising and on-site registration. SOAR advisers will be available to assist students with their academic plans and schedules.
Beth Trafford, director of counseling and advisement, said new students should apply online at www.pulaskitech.edu or submit a paper application to the Office of Admissions and Records prior to visiting the SOAR center.
Students entering college for the first time also must submit a high school transcript with graduation date or GED scores, ACT or COMPASS assessment scores no more than five years old.
Students who have attended college before must submit official copies of transfer transcripts from all previously-attended colleges/universities, ACT or COMPASS scores if college-level mathematics and English have not been completed with a grade of "C" or better.
All full-time students born after January 1, 1957, must submit two proofs of measles and rubella immunizations.
New students should take the online student orientation, which is located on the prospective students' page on the Pulaski Tech Web site (www.pulaskitech.edu). Students should print off the last page of the orientation and submit it to their SOAR adviser to be eligible to win a full-tuition scholarship for the spring 2006 semester.
Students should meet with an adviser in the SOAR center to discuss their academic goals and plan their schedules. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Dec. 9.
Students will register the same day they are advised. Tuition should be paid by the advertised tuition date in order to reserve classes.
Late registration for the fall semester is Jan. 10-12; however, early orientation, advising and registration at the SOAR center is recommended to ensure space availability. The last day to register for spring classes is Jan. 12.
In order to enhance students' chances for academic success, no registration is permitted after classes begin.
