Pulaski Tech celebrates progress on new culinary institute with topping out, beam signing celebration1/18/2013
Pulaski Technical College celebrated a structural milestone at the college's new Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute with a Topping Out and Beam Signing celebration Friday.
More than 150 people, including faculty, staff and students, attended the afternoon celebration inside the college's Little Rock-South site, which is adjacent to the new culinary institute.
During the festivities, college trustees, faculty, staff, students, community leaders and guests signed a 10-foot beam that will be incorporated into the new building's structure.
"Having a state-of-the-art facility like this, designed with the students' education in mind, has been a dream of ours for more than 20 years," said Todd Gold, director of the Pulaski Technical College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.
Construction of the two-story, 52,000-square-foot Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute began in May 2012, and will be complete later this year and open to students this fall. It will accommodate as many as 800 students when it is complete.
