Prospective college students can get free help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of Arkansas's first College Goal Sunday on Feb. 18.
The event will be taking place at 29 sites throughout the state, including Pulaski Technical College.
At Pulaski Tech, financial aid advisers will be on hand from 2-4 p.m. in Ottenheimer Library to assist any student wishing to attend any college or university in the state.
In addition to receiving assistance in filling out the FAFSA, participants will receive general information regarding state and federal financial aid programs.
"The Arkansas College Goal Sunday program is an effort by hundreds of volunteers from across Arkansas who will come together on a Sunday afternoon in February with the common goal of making sure that the process of applying for college financial aid does not become an obstacle that would keep any person from pursuing an education beyond high school," according to Scott Medlin, statewide coordinator for Arkansas College Goal Sunday.
"By attending a College Goal Sunday event, participants will receive free hands on assistance in completing the FAFSA and will walk away from the event with a completed financial aid application and the satisfaction of knowing they have tackled one of the biggest steps in getting ready to go to college."
The Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education received a three-year grant, totaling $150,000, from the Lumina Foundation for Education to implement the College Goal Sunday program in Arkansas.
