Pulaski Technical College joined other colleges and universities Sunday in hosting the state's first College Goal Sunday.
The event, which took place at 28 sites throughout the state, offered free help to prospective college students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
More than 55 people visited the Ottenheimer Library on Sunday afternoon as part of the event. People began arriving on campus at 1:30 p.m., and most were finished by 3:30 p.m.
A total of 25 people completed the forms. Twelve students filed and completed the work on the Web. Thirteen did not have their personal identification numbers, so they printed signature sheets.
Student and family comments were overwhelmingly positive about College Goal Sunday.
In addition to receiving assistance in filling out the FAFSA, participants also received general information regarding state and federal financial aid programs.
The Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education received a three-year grant, totaling $150,000, from the Lumina Foundation for Education to implement the College Goal Sunday program in Arkansas.
