Pulaski Technical College graduated its largest class to date on May 17 at the College's 2007 commencement ceremony Thursday evening at Alltel Arena.
More than 1,400 associate degrees, technical certificates, advanced certificates and certificates of proficiency were awarded this spring, though not all students opted to walk during the commencement ceremony.
Pulaski Tech Board Chair John E. Barnes and trustees Janet Davis and Ronnie Dedman were on hand to award the diplomas.
Paul Harvel, president and chief executive officer of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, offered the keynote address.
Dr. Dan F. Bakke, president, announced the establishment of the Harriet Smith Frazer Scholarship, which will honor the memory of long-time dean of instruction Harriet Frazer, who died April 25. Harriet's son, Bryan, offered remarks on behalf of the family.
Honor cords were presented to graduates with cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or better. The Pulaski Technical College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Milton Lites, presented special music during the ceremony. The North Little Rock High School band performed, and the NLRHS-- Junior Reserve officer Training Corps Color Guard presented the colors.
