College participates in Guard program10/5/2007
Pulaski Technical College will begin its second year as part of the Arkansas Army National Guard's Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) in October. Pulaski Tech teaches "College Success: Introduction to College for Military Personnel" to all the Army National Guard recruits who have completed basic training but have not received specific job training.
The College Success course encourages soldiers to enroll in college and to use their National Guard education benefits. The course covers the educational benefits available to soldiers, goal setting, time management, learning styles, memory improvement, study skills, reading skills and test-taking skills.
The recruits will be mustered for this course at one of four locations in the state: Oct. 13-14 at Camp Robinson, Nov. 3-4 at Jonesboro, Dec. 1-2 at Prescott and Jan. 5-6 at Ft. Chaffee. The schedule was developed by Drill Sergeant Robert Butler, who supervises all recruit training in Arkansas.
One hundred and thirty-one soldiers are scheduled for the course, which is taught by Dr. Gary Gaston, Pulaski Tech's military enrollment coordinator.
