Members of Pulaski Technical College's Student Government Association will be spending part of their winter break helping residents of Louisiana repair their homes damaged by floodwaters caused by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
The group left Tuesday for Slidell, La., where they will spend the rest of the week helping with hurricane relief efforts. They will return on Friday, Jan. 10.
The volunteers include Summer Brown, director of student life and leadership at Pulaski Tech, and SGA members Tyrone Sanders, Sean McCoy, Adrienne Thompson and Mike Kwangkeon.
The group is volunteering through the United Methodist Church's Louisiana Conference Storm Relief Center, which helps storm survivors rebuild their homes damaged or destroyed by the hurricanes. The trip is the fourth such volunteer trip for Pulaski Tech's Student Government Association.
