The Arkansas Travelers may have lost to the Tulsa Drillers, but LaShawna Wade of Little Rock walked away a winner Thursday night during Pulaski Tech Night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
Several hundred people signed up for the drawing at the Pulaski Tech booth that was positioned at the ball park's main gate. Dr. Dan F. Bakke drew the winning name during the third inning.
Wade says she plans to take advantage of the scholarship this fall. She has some college credit from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and has been working as a substitute teacher for the Pulaski County Special School District, mainly at Landmark Elementary where her 7-year-old son, Gabriel, attends.
The one-semester scholarship covers tuition and fees for the fall 2009 semester.
In addition to sponsoring the scholarship drawing and information booths, the college was highlighted in the evening's opening ceremonies with John Suskie, chairman of the Pulaski Technical College Board of Trustees, throwing the first pitch of the game.
