Foundation announces Diamond Chef competitors, preliminaries are March 31/25/2010
The heat is on! The Pulaski Technical College Foundation has announced an outstanding lineup of chefs who will compete in the Diamond Chef preliminary events on March 3 in the lobby bar of the Peabody Hotel.
According to Jamie Higgins, special events coordinator, contestants will be judged on plate presentation, creativity and taste, in addition to sanitation and mise en place.
Schedule
Heat 1 - Chef Brian Deloney (Maddie's Place) vs. Chef Jason Godwin (Simply the Best) - 12:30 p.m.
Heat 2 - Chef Timothy Morton (1620) vs. Chef Jason Knapp (PTC Big Rock Bistro) - 1:30 p.m.
Heat 3 - Chef Diana Bratton (Café 1217 & Taco Mamma) vs. Chef Daniel Capello (Chenal Country Club) - 2:30 p.m.
Heat 4 - Chef Jacob Peck (Café 42) vs. Chef Donnie Ferneau (Ferneau) - 3:30 p.m.
Semifinals
Winners of Heat 1 and Heat 2 will compete at 5 p.m.
Winners of Heat 3 and Heat 4 will compete at 6 p.m.
Winners of the semifinal rounds will move on to the finale on June 8 at the Statehouse Convention Center.
Leading the way for the 2010 competition is Rusty Mathis, general manager of Ben E. Keith Food service, and Janell Mason, community leader. Trustee Janet Davis chairs the Special Events Committee of the foundation board of directors.
