Pulaski Technical College YouthBuild students partnered with City Year Little Rock volunteers to create 142 directional signs for use Nov. 14-18 during the Clinton Presidential Center dedication events.
The signs, constructed with plywood and doors, were painted red and distributed throughout Little Rock by the YouthBuild students. Additionally, YouthBuild students assisted in creating road blocks consisting of a five-gallon bucket containing quickcrete and a t-post.
In the YouthBuild program, unemployed and undereducated young people ages 16-24 work toward their GED or high school diploma while learning construction skills. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership development, community service and the creation of a positive mini-community of adults and youth committed to success.
"We are very excited and proud that our YouthBuild students have been part of this historical event," Renee Bounds, YouthBuild program specialist, said.
