Pulaski Technical College will join the nation in acknowledging the impact of intimate partner violence during the Domestic Violence Awareness Month of October.
The Silent Witness Project and PTC Clothesline Project will be displayed in the Campus Center foyer Oct. 4-6.
The Silent Witness Project includes life-sized silhouettes representing the 19 Arkansas women who were murdered by their partners last year. Their stories are included on shields placed on each silhouette.
Also on display will be the PTC Clothesline Project, consisting of more than 200 tee-shirts created by PTC students, faculty and staff who have been affected by domestic violence. These displays are somber reminders that victims of physical assault, verbal abuse and intimidation, sexual assault, and other acts of violence within intimate relationships have voices that were not heard in time.
The mission of the projects is to increase awareness, provide prevention and intervention information and education, and to offer healing and hope to survivors.
This event is co-sponsored by PTC Counseling and Advising and Fine Arts and Humanities Division. For more information, contact Donna McSpadden at 812-2814, Caroline Lewis at 812-2786, or Sarah Clements at 812-2715.
