The conference was a great experience for the students and their advisors. They were fortunate to hear great speakers such as Ralph Nader, 2004 Presidential Candidate and America’s Leading Consumer Advocate and Helen Thomas, Dean of the White House Press Corp, UPI. The breakout sessions were very informative and the students were excited about setting this year’s national priorities. |
| ASACC sets the top three priorities facing community college students. The top three priorities for 2006 included: Increasing the Pell Grant to $4,500, the National Tuition Endowment, and the Non-Traditional Student Success Act. All students in attendance visited their Senators and Representatives simultaneously to present these priorities and make an impact on the Congressmen and women around the nation. | |
| The PTC group visited the offices of Blanche Lincoln, Vic Snyder, Mark Pryor, Marion Berry, and Mike Ross. The Senators’ and Representatives’ educational representatives welcomed the group warmly and listened to the report on the needs of Pulaski Technical College and the ASACC priorities. The educational representatives promised to relay the message to PTC’s Senators and Representatives and assured their support. | ![]() |
| The group left Washington, D.C. with a sense of accomplishment and truly feels the trip was a success and a great benefit to the College. | |
