| Job Description: | Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, Arkansas, one of the state's fastest growing two-year colleges is accepting applications for a Veterans Upward Bound Academic Coordinator. The Academic Coordinator will report to the Veterans Upward Bound Director. This is a federally funded position and continuation of the position and program is contingent upon program funding.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regularly meet with participants to monitor progress and reassess needs and interventions.
Supervise professional tutor/mentors.
Develops and delivers academic and study skills workshops.
Coordinates with the Registrar's Office to identify appropriate courses/sections to reserve for Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Bridge participants.
Assists participants in scheduling VUB instructional activities.
Refers students and their families to needed community resources and organizations that serve veterans.
Maintains relationships with Veterans Affairs, military branches and other organizations to ensure participant needs are being met.
Partners with campus and community organizations and individuals to bring relevant workshops and services to VUB participants.
Keeps abreast of community cultural and educational events; encourages participation and incentives for group participation.
Implements program evaluation to assess project impact, analyze data, develop recommendations and compose reports.
Participates in regional and state TRIO/VUB conferences/meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

| Minimum Requirements: | The formal education equivalent of Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education or related field. Prefer experience working with low income, first generation and students with disabilities. Persons with backgrounds similar to target population are encouraged to apply. Military experience preferred but not necessary. Additional experience, knowledge, abilities and skills includes:
• Experience conducting individual and group activities.
• Experience in a college setting desirable; knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and transfer issues preferred.
• Experience using Access Database.
• Ability to maintain records and generate reports within a designated timeline.
• Understanding of ADA law and disability services in higher education.
• Training and experience in academic advising.
• Understanding of Academic Action Plan.
• Workshop planning and public speaking experience preferred.
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
