Letter from the chair of the Staff Senate
Pulaski Technical College Community,
It is my honor to serve as this year’s Staff Senate President at Pulaski Tech. We are a growing school with a dedicated staff committed to student success. Staff Senate is an organization composed of representatives from Student Services, Instruction, Business and Finance, Advancement, Title III, Computing Services and the Foundation. All Staff Senators must be a full-time non-faculty employee of the College and are elected by their peers within their respective areas. Staff Senate is led by officers elected by the College staff at-large, with these positions being a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Parliamentarian.
The primary function of Staff Senate is to represent staff in a spirit of unity and cooperation. Staff Senate seeks to work with all organizations and persons on campus in a constructive manner, and we desire to use dialog, discussion, and healthy debate to accomplish our goals. Staff Senate recognizes that student success is the number one mission at Pulaski Tech, and we strive to center our goals around that mission.
Shared Governance is a time-honored tradition in higher education, and it provides new and diverse perspectives in institutional leadership. Staff Senate is intimately involved in this tradition by acting in an advisory capacity to the college president and others in positions with administrative authority.
I am hoping for a productive year as we seek ways to better an already great institution. I am always open to suggestions and ideas in ways our Staff Senate can get more involved on campus or help improve the campus in any way. Please contact me any time with your thoughts and ideas. I also encourage you to attend Staff Senate meetings which are held monthly and are open to all persons on campus. All staff members are more than welcome to attend, present proposals, and serve on ad-hoc committees. The Staff Senate is here to serve the needs of the staff and the campus as a whole.
