Thank you for visiting the homepage of the English Department at Pulaski Technical College. The English Department at Pulaski Technical College upholds and promotes the general education objectives as stated in the PTC Catalog by requiring students to increase his/her capabilities to communicate through writing, speaking and reading; perform computations; reason logically and think independently and critically; develop a basic understanding of people, cultures and society; develop an appreciation of lifelong learning; and develop teamwork and workplace skills. ENGL 1311 and ENGL 1312 are gateway courses that satisfy the general education requirements of the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), Associate of Science (A.S.) and Associate of Arts (A.A.) degrees. The English Department supports the goals and objectives of the Fine Arts and Humanities Division by preparing students to think critically; act with integrity; write across the curriculum; demonstrate computer literacy, information literacy, and cultural literacy; and finally, to understand the importance for civic and community involvement. The English Department also offers courses in World Literature, American and English Literature, and Creative Writing, which fulfills the Fine Arts electives required of the A.A.S., A.S., and A.A. degrees, and publishes two annual student journals, Milestones and The View From Here, to celebrate student writing. It is the English Department’s mission to offer courses in multiple formats and on all three campuses to meet the academic goals of our students.
