Early Childhood Department
The field of early childhood is ever expanding as the need for quality care increases. With the explosion of research on brain development making headlines, the public demands a professionally trained workforce to care for young children. The evidence is clear that knowledgeable, caring professionals create the kind of environments that impact children in a positive way.
The Early Childhood Department at Pulaski Technical College prepares students by providing them a variety of program options. Students can choose to complete a one semester, one year or two year degree plan depending upon their goals. The one semester Certificate of Proficiency meets the requirements to take the national CDA assessment. The one year Technical Certificate prepares students to work as an aide in an early childhood classroom. The AAS degree plan has two options: Program Administration and Early Childhood Education. The Program Administration degree is designed for persons interested in owning or managing an early childhood program. The Early Childhood Education plan is designed to prepare persons interested in the position of lead teacher. The programs are designed to allow students to progress from the certificate level to the AAS degree at their own pace. Classes are offered at a variety of times to meet the needs of those students who are already employed in the field.
