Tutoring/Learning Assistance Center
Taking a course you just can't grasp? The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) provides free, drop-in tutoring in most subjects taught at PTC. The LAC also has an on-site computer lab, on-line tutoring, a collection of handouts, and information on upcoming student success workshops.
Contact the Learning Assistance Center as soon as you feel like you are having difficulty with a class - do not wait until the end of the semester. The LAC wants to put you in charge of your own learning through collaboration with peer tutors. If you are frustrated or confused, you can get clarification. If you already feel confident in your work, you can improve even more. We can help improve your preparation for exams, provide feedback about how to clarify your ideas on a paper, or help you arrive at an answer on a math problem.
Peer Tutors
Peer Tutors are PTC students who excel in their coursework, possess skills and qualities that make them ideal helpers, and have been recommended by PTC faculty as demonstrating superior subject knowledge. Peer Tutors are well-suited to offer support because they have recently taken many of the same classes that you are in now. This makes them uniquely qualified. Tutors want to develop active, independent learners in the students with whom they work.
If you are interested in becoming a peer tutor, visit or contact the LAC or ask a teacher.
Professional Tutors
Professional Tutors who have bachelors or masters degrees in the subjects in which they tutor are also available daily in the Learning Assistance Center.
Tutoring Schedules
You can view schedules for each campus below. The schedule will indicate which subjects and at what times tutors are available in the LAC.
You can work with the same tutor every time you visit the LAC, or you can see different ones to fit your schedule. Remember - as a Pulaski Tech student, you can use the tutoring service for no charge and with no appointment. Just come on in!
